Shwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (UofT) Logo Development
The soon-to-be built Schwartz Reisman Innovation center (SRIC), part of the University of Toronto, will accelerate innovation in Toronto and Canada by creating the country's largest university-based innovation node. The innovation centre will help researchers explore the intersection of technology and society.
The partnership between SRIC + CBRE gives them access to the best tenant pool, market intelligence, marketing engine and experience. The marketing strategy was to create a memorable identity for SRIC and cultivate excitement. The logo I created focused on the angular cut design of the building (that maximizes the use of daylight), while creating social spaces with key views.
After many logo iterations, I modified the top portion to include a 3D letter of 'I' and 'C' for innovation centre, while the blue colour signifies depth, stability and often productivity. Once the final logo was approved, I mocked up school merchandise that the University bookstore would eventually carry - from sweaters to canvas tote bags. On a bigger scale, billboards, Twitter and Instagram accounts, a website and a marketing brochure.
