New Hire Welcome Package & Hiring Playbook
In my current role within the Finance Change Management & Operations Team at Oxford Properties Group, our primary focus revolves around implementing and introducing new applications, processes, and functionalities. Recognizing a significant gap in resources available for newly onboarded team members, our collective effort led us to create a comprehensive welcome package. This package not only introduces the history of our parent pension company, OMERS, and its subsidiary, Oxford Properties Group, but also delves into specific details of the subfinance group known as GF&S (Global Finance & Strategy). It also includes a welcome letter, company policies, benefit information, links to forms. The package introduces new employees to the organization, its culture, and important resources.
Creating a welcome packages provides the company with many benefits for new employees:
Saves company time and money
Improves new hire satisfaction
Reduces employee turnover
Increase new hire ramp-up speed
Provides context to company expectations and goals
Demonstrates organizational efficiency
The welcome package we've meticulously crafted goes beyond an introduction, offering up-to-date statistics, insights into geographical portfolio diversification, and a roadmap for our key objectives in the upcoming year. To ensure a seamless integration for new hires, we've thoughtfully included links to essential resources and provided shortcuts to the most frequently used applications and functions within our financial ecosystem. This 50-page initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a supportive and informed environment for all team members.
The New Hire Welcome Package also lives on our company Sharepoint site for easy access and reference. From there, we also have links to the GF&S Hiring Playbook, which is a series of recommendations created for GF&S people leaders who are onboarding new team members, as well as a video of the SVPs discussing the organization.
